The Franschhoek Motor Museum offers visitors a special opportunity to look back at more than 100 years of motoring history with its unique and exciting collection of vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles and memorabilia in the magnificent setting of L’Ormarins. Across the length and breadth of Southern Africa, only one place can adequately portray the evolution of the automobile, The Franschhoek Motor Museum.
The museum’s collection exceeds 220 vehicles – ranging from an 1898 Beeston motor tricycle to a 2003 Ferrari Enzo supercar – and more than 80 exhibits will be on view at any one time, displayed in four de-humidified halls with a total floor area of 2700 m², and presented in chronological order.

Such a nice bonding experience for the boys, and helping the younger generations to see things in perspective, whilst having fun. It was so good to tell them about the rotary (wankle) engin whilst seeing one in real life --- and perhaps not the prettiest design, but immaculately kept. My perception was that modern day Ferraris and Jody Scheckter's F1 cars would also be on display, albeit part of a private collection and some still in use, but, of course, that's what the younger generations want to get up close and personal with. The flow of the exhibition is well thought through, and the two on-loan cars add to the highlights. It's a calm and tranquil space with visitors displaying respectful and restraintful behaviour. The Franschhoek Valley was blessed, as it normally is, with wonderful sunny weather, adding to the upliftment of our spirits as we navigated the farmyard like spaces. The younger generations are appreciative of a gift from these experiences, albeit a keyring for their future car. But the venue didn't create connections that make them feel part of something quite special. - Chris

My wife an I booked to go to the museum which was quick and easy. The drive up to the museum is beautiful as is the location and buildings. The whole museum is pristine and perfectly maintained for the spectacular car collection which we really enjoyed. We used the cafe and this was excellent. The whole trip was perfect and such a beautiful place the spend the afternoon. I would definitely recommend this to others and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the museum which was. - Mark
